10- Optimus Prime
Optimus Prime is a character from Transformers and is the leader of the Autobots from the planet Cybertron. Optimus is dedicated to protecting life and, in particular, the inhabitants of Earth. He also leads the fight against the evil Decepticons and their leader Megatron who wishes to eliminate the human race and build a new Cybertron on Earth! Prime’s bravery and courage mean he deserves a place in our top ten.
9- Buck Rogers
Buck Rogers first appears in Philip Francis Nowlan’s «Armageddon 2419 A.D», written in Amazing Stories, the first magazine dedicated to science fiction. However, at that time, this character was known as Anthony Rogers. When the article was turned into a comic, Anthony’s name was changed to Buck Rogers. The popular television series made in the 1980s sees Captain Buck Rogers return to Earth after being frozen in his spaceship for 500 years. His combat experience and pilot skills help Buck save his friends over and over again.
8- Mulder & Scully
Scully, or Dr. Dana Katherine Scully, and Fox Mulder are FBI agents based in Washington, D.C. They are tasked with working through unsolved cases, which are known as «X-Files.» Mulder and Scully are definitely on our list.
Despite having a more selective following than others on this list, the famous 1980 movie starring Jeff Bridges will always live on in memory as great science fiction. Bridges play software engineer Kevin Flynn who, in an attempt to regain programming rights from him, is catapulted into a mainframe computer, threatening to take over the world’s computer systems. Tron, a security program designed by Flynn, saves humanity by destroying the master control program! In addition to its story, the visual effects in this movie changed cinematography forever.
6- Frankenstein’s monster
Although not at the forefront of many people’s minds, Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel, ‘Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus «is perhaps one of, if not, the first novel of» science fiction «. Victor Frankenstein’s monster doesn’t have a name, and many take the name of its creator as their own. Other names include; ‘Adam’, ‘monster’, ‘thing’, ‘ogre’, and many more. The cutting thought of this creation makes it top ten worthy!
Predator, also known as Yautja, is an alien species that is probably best known for being both friend and foe from the popular alien series. She has since appeared in various novels, video games, comics, and movies. His impressive camouflage camo and effective combat skills make this an ultimate sci-fi creation, even at the expense of the human race!
The green blooded, half-Vulcan half-human, is the next character in our top ten. Spock plays the reliable and logical thinking ally of Captain James T. Kirk in the famous Star Trek series. Spock is well known for getting his friends out of tight spots by getting under the skin of Dr. Leonard «Bones» McCoy! Although portrayed as a rather cold character, Spock captures the hearts of many fans as he executes his famous mantra «the needs of the many, the needs of one,» where he sacrifices his own life to save the crew of the Enterprise.
The giant lizard monster is certainly a handful as it terrorizes first the streets of Japan and then New York. Although Godzilla originally appeared in Ishiro Honda’s film in 1954, Godzilla has since been found in comic books, novels, and even video games. He is known as the King of the Monsters, which deserves a spot on our list of the greatest sci-fi characters of all time.
The Terminator, unemotional, would come close to anyone’s top ten sci-fi list! Famously played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Terminator is a machine disguised as a human, sent to 1984 from the future to hunt down an unsuspecting Sarah Connor. Since then, Terminator has appeared in three other movies and has been in various comics and computer games.
1- Darth Vader
It is no surprise that the most iconic character in cinema is our number 1 choice however in the StarWars Universe. There are so many characters we could choose from, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Yoda, or R2D2, but we had to go with the only Darth Vader! The commander of the galactic empire and faithful servant of the Sith, this twisted ex-Jedi, certainly can’t stop wondering if they’re a fan of the Star Wars franchise or not.
